On October 29, 2012, after devastating many areas of the Caribbean and South Eastern United States, Hurricane Sandy slammed into the Northeast with a force unlike anything seen in the area in over 70 years. During Sandy's massively destructive course, tons of debris washed up in beach areas from Cuba to New England.

Monmouth and Ocean County beaches in New Jersey were hit particularly hard by the Super Storm as it has come to be known. In its wake, Sandy left a catastrophic and overwhelming path of destruction. As an effort to give back to the area he loves, Jersey Shore resident and artist Gregg Hinlicky is creating emotional works of art from the remnants of the storm.

The art pictured here has been created from this very debris. Like a fingerprint, each piece is an original, unlike any other in the series. Gregg personally selects the contents of each collage from recovered items displaced by Sandy.

When you purchase an original "Sandy's Debris" collage, you are receiving a piece of art created from remnants of one of the biggest storms in recorded history, and most important, your thoughtfulness will contribute to the redevelopment of the Jersey Shore.

The pictures below are a representation of that which you will receive for your donation. Again each work is dependent upon what debris was recovered. When ordering, please specify the "type" of work you prefer, based on the below samples.

GREGG HINLICKY

Gregg Hinlicky has spent nearly his entire life creating art. At the age of two he picked up a crayon and only put it down to be replaced by a pencil, pen, paintbrush or whatever implement of creativity that his next project required. As an illustrator, Gregg has provided art for 50+ book covers, magazines, children’s books, billboards, advertisements, CD/record covers, posters, packaging and television ads. His depiction of the notorious Joe Camel (in collaboration with other artists) on the side of a 10 story building on the corner of 42nd Street and 8th Avenue in New York City, brought him a lot of media criticism and attention.

Gregg’s paintings hang in both galleries and many private collections. His current passion entitled “The Brewer’s Art”, depicting beer makers in their work environment has met with both public and critical acclaim. A book and travelling exhibit of the collection of paintings is currently in the planning. Oh yeah, and he does occasionally pick up a crayon when the art requires it.
